Five partial-payment rules
- Always link the payment to its invoice or account — never a floating entry.
- Confirm the remaining balance aloud with the customer at payment time.
- Share updated statements on WhatsApp after big installments (invoicing).
- Set the next date before the customer leaves — dateless promises die (dues guide).
- Keep partial history inside the customer ledger timeline, not scattered notes.
When partials signal trouble
Shrinking installments with growing balances mean the limit is wrong, not the customer. Renegotiate smaller, dated schedules early — recovery beats confrontation (khata mistakes).
