The checkout, step by step
1. Build the cart. Barcode items scan straight in; everything else is found by typing two letters of its name. Quantities adjust with taps, not retyping.
2. Adjust fairly. Apply item or cart discounts and tax where applicable — the maths the shopkeeper currently does mentally under pressure happens automatically.
3. Choose the payment reality. Full cash, part-cash-part-udhaar, or pure khata for a regular — each path updates the customer's balance in the khata module without leaving checkout.
4. Finish professionally. Print a clean 58mm/80mm-style receipt, save it as PDF, or send it straight to the customer's WhatsApp with their items listed properly.
What happens after the "salaam"
- Sale is logged to daily reports instantly — see reports.
- Stock deducts automatically across inventory.
- Loyalty points accrue for returning customers where used.
- Mistakes are safe: full or partial refunds tie back to the original bill.
- Standing orders can re-create themselves as recurring bills.
Billing speed is a profit feature
A queue that moves keeps customers and reduces the "leave it, bhai, later" sales that never return as later. Shopkeepers typically cut per-customer time most by combining scanning with prepared product names — both covered in speeding up shop billing and calculator billing vs a POS app. For item-heavy counters, add barcode labels; for invoice-style needs, see invoice features and the retail POS overview.
Because checkout is offline-capable (offline mode explained), even load-shedding evenings don't push staff back to paper chits. Start the free trial during your busiest hours — that's the honest test.
